FROZEN GRAPES DAIQUIRI
I’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE
IN JUST a few days, lays a much anticipated family weekend-getaway to Beijing’s outskirt near the Great Wall. Long neglected enthusiasm and BBQ-equiped, we were gonna shake the clouds of illness that’s been shit-storming us for the the past entire year, and dare to freaking live again. Just a few days… juuust a dainty little few days… And fuck.
My Dumpling has to drop a death threat on me. I am being punished, for optimism.
If you knew me at all, you’d know that I am a walking train-wreck in situations like these ones. Not even an usually delightful box of frozen grapes can soothe. It needs to be boooozed up. Please, drink up. And I’ll see you on the other side.

Three tbsp of rum yields a mild booze. If your situation calls for more, knock yourself out.
Servings: 2
Ingredients: adapted from straweberry daiquiri from allrecipes.com
- 1 1/2 cup (8.6 oz/245 grams) of frozen seedless black grapes, or concord grapes
- 1 1/2 cup (4.6 oz/130 grams) of ice cubes
- 1/4 cup (1.9 oz/55 grams) of grape-flavoured soda, or soda water
- 3 tbsp of dark rum
- 2 tbsp of powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp of lemon juice
- 2 tsp of lime juice
- 1/4 tsp of freshly grated nutmeg
Save the lime after juicing for garnish. Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass, put the squeezed lime on top. Straw in. Summer.

July 16, 2014 at 7:20 PMUgh. It saddens me to hear the bad news about your pup. // The drink sounds lovely. Have you tried a Moscow Mule? Just Ginger ale, lime juice and an oz or two of vodka. It’s my favorite summer beverage, even unseated the almighty mojito.

July 16, 2014 at 9:02 PMDAVID: thanks, no I haven’t tried Moscow mule yet but i love the name already. If I can find a descent ale here… and it sounds much more deadly than a harmless daiquiri.

July 22, 2014 at 4:32 AMI saw this and slapped a co-worker. You know, to restore balance in the universe.
I work from home.
So does my wife. This will be worth the night on the sofa though.
